Digimon Survive Delayed To 2022, According To New Financial Reports

Digimon Survive 2

Looks like fans will be waiting a while longer to finally get their hands on Digimon Survive. According to new financial reports, the planned survival strategy RPG from Witchcraft and Bandai Namco has been pushed to sometime next year. This is the third delay for the anticipated game based on the popular anime.

While no official announcement about the game has been made yet, this news comes from the latest financial report from Toei Animation, the Japanese animation studio that produces the Digimon anime. The report lists “Release of Digimon Survive (PS4/Switch) [2022]” under its plans for the “fiscal year 2022 Q3 and Beyond”. Though no specific timeframe for release was offered, Q3 of 2022 for most companies runs from July 1 through September 30.

Originally announced back in 2018, Digimon Survive has not had an easy go of it. The game was initially set to release in December of last year, but some behind-the-scenes issues and some pandemic-related problems pushed that date to Spring of 2021. This delay was also meant to allow the developers time to review the game’s system. Now, it looks like fans will be waiting until sometime next year to dive into the monster-filled world of Digimon Survive. No news on why this third delay has occurred.

The game, which is meant to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the anime, will introduce a brand-new adventure in the Digimon universe. It will follow a group of teenagers, led by protagonist Takuma Momozuka, that become stranded during a school camping trip. The teens soon find themselves transported to a new world where they come face-to-face with monsters and danger. Digimon Survive will use a classic 2D SRPG style for battles and player choices will determine the development of their Digimon allies and the outcome of the story. With striking anime-style graphics, characters designed by Uichi Ukomo, music composed by Tomoki Miyoshi, and classic combat with over 100 Digimon, Digimon Survive is sure to be a must-have for any fan of the anime.

Hopefully, Bandai and Witchcraft will offer an official release date in the coming weeks, but until then fans will have hope for smoother sailing for the troubled game. Digimon Survive is expected to release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
