Digimon Survive has been rated by the Australian Classification Board, implying that it might be further along in development than we thought.

As spotted by Redditor cloudsheep0 on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, the Australian Classification website now includes a rating for Digimon Survive, which we haven't heard anything from in some time.

In fact, the last time we heard anything about Digimon Survive, it was as part of some financial reports that indicate that it is delayed into 2022. Even though that might be sad news, the Australian Rating board just classified it as a PG, implying that it's actually not that far off and might be further into development than we thought.

The rating doesn't reveal much more than an age rating, but it was classified just a few days ago on August 27. The fact that it's been classified at all is a pretty big deal though, as that part of the process is usually not done until quite far into a game's development cycle. It's the reason why many game trailers show "rating pending" instead of having the age rating.

What does this mean for Digimon Survive? It's not too clear, but at the very least it shows that the game hasn't just been forgotten about. This doesn't disprove the claims of it releasing in 2022, but it does at least hint that it won't be late into that year.

Although leaks can be tenuous at the best of times, one area where it's incredibly unlikely to be faked is on a classification board. Even for projects that we haven't heard about yet, like the Castlevania Advanced Collection that was leaked through the Australian Rating boards this year, it's too hard to fake something like this through official government rating websites.

It also helps that Digimon Survive is a known quantity, so it's not like it has any reason to be faked. Although this classification doesn't give many more details, beyond an age rating, it does imply that we'll be hearing something from the game sometime soon.
