Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch Easter Eggs in Marvel’s Avengers

Lo-ki Getting Excited

Earlier this week, the newest Marvel’s Avengers expansion came out. War For Wakanda introduces several characters to the game that MCU fans will be familiar with, such as Black Panther, Shrui, Okoye, and Ulysses Klaue. There are are some other characters mentioned that you may have missed though.

There are several easter eggs that refer to other Marvel characters in the universe, confirming their existence, though we may never meet them in the game. To hear these easter eggs, you must find Zawavari, Wakanda’s spiritual elder. He has a room across from the gear vendor in the lower level of outpost Birnin Zana.

During a couple of missions in the DLC, Zawavari is able to telepathically commune with the Avengers. When you approach him in between missions, you are able to hear to talk to several characters, such as Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, Loki, and Wong.

Most of the characters are not referred to by their superhero alias, but you can figure it out. Zawavari speaks to a “Doctor” in New York, where Doctor Strange resides. He also speaks to Wanda and asks if her brother (Quicksilver) knows she seeks his council. He mentions Wong by name and also refers to the Ancient One.

The most tricky one to decipher is when he talks to Lie-Smith, which is an alias for Loki. Players may remember that Loki appeared in the game as an imposter of Thor in his chain of missions, so there is hope that we see him again, in his more recognizable form next time.

Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange have been suggested to be planned DLC characters by early datamining ventures, but rumors have since circulated that many characters will be scrapped due to Marvel’s Avengers poor performance in sales. Marvel’s Avengers is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia.
