Thanks to Battlefield Portal, Battlefield 2042 will feature fan-favourite mode Rush across all maps – that’s seven Battlefield 2042 maps and six legacy maps from across the series’ history.
Portal is a new mode for Battlefield 2042 that allows players to tweak parameters and create their own game types. The mode is created by Ripple Effect, previously known as Dice LA. As well as highlighting community creations, Portal will launch with a bunch of Ripple Effect-created playlists, and Rush is included here.
On top of offering up six maps from the old games – 1942’s Battle of the Bulge and El Alamein, Battlefield 3’s Caspian Border and Noshahr Canals, and Bad Company 2’s Arica Harbor and Valparaiso – the team also added Rush to all of Battlefield 2042’s core maps.
TheGamer spoke to Ripple Effect GM Christian Grass to get confirmation.
“Yes, that is happening,” Grass explained. “We have added Rush mode inside of Portal, so you can play the 2042 maps in Rush.”
To make this happen, Ripple Effect’s level designers worked closely with Dice to ensure the modes worked for maps built around Conquest mode. Players who want to make their own creations within Portal won’t be able to change objective locations, but they will be able to tweak the parameters of Rush maps thanks to the blueprints laid down by Ripple Effect.
“The level designers in LA have collaborated with the level designers in Stockholm to make that change,” Grass said.
Battlefield 2042 will launch for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 22 this year.
