Dominique Thorne To Debut As Ironheart In Black Panther 2

Kevin Feige has confirmed Dominique Thorne, who has been cast as the MCU's Ironheart, will be a part of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

As theaters continue to reopen around the world, the MCU has been able to properly kick back into gear. Following the release of its first three TV shows on Disney Plus, Black Widow hit the streaming service and theaters simultaneously, something that has resulted in quite the rift between Scarlett Johansson and Disney. No word yet on whether the MCU's next movies will follow suit or exclusively release in theaters.

Between its movies and TV shows, the MCU's upcoming slate is looking pretty packed all the way up to 2023. One of the most anticipated projects announced so far is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The first Black Panther movie released since Chadwick Boseman's death, and a topic that is particularly poignant following the late actor's appearance in Marvel's animated What If…? series.

As well as revealing how the Black Panther branch of the MCU will continue on without Boseman, Marvel president Kevin Feige has also revealed the sequel will include the debut of Dominique Thorne. Thorne has been cast in the role of Riri Williams, better known to Marvel fans as Ironheart, who will be starring in her very own Disney Plus series.

“We're shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first,” Feige told ComicBook.com. Feige neglected to mention what role Williams will play in Wakanda Forever, but since production on the Ironheart TV show hasn't started yet, it's probably safe to assume Thorne will be introduced in the movie before starring in her own show on Disney Plus.

For those of you unfamiliar with Williams and Ironheart, the assumption is that she will effectively be the spiritual successor to Tony Stark's Iron Man. A girl genius who creates her very own suit akin to Iron Man's as a teenager. Stark takes Williams under his wing in the comics, although following the events of Endgame it's unlikely that thread will be followed to the letter. It is possible Stark was training Williams behind the scenes before stepping to Thanos, or that Robery Downey Jr. returns to reprise his role. Now that there's a multiverse, anything is possible.
