Dragon Age 4 May Have An Antivan Crow Companion

With the groundbreaking success of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, fans were hoping BioWare would take centre stage this summer, but alas, the wait for more Dragon Age news continues. BioWare is skipping EA Play this month, meaning we won't hear anything about either Mass Effect 5 or Dragon Age 4 for some time.

Dragon Age 4 executive producer Christian Dailey took to Twitter to apologize to fans. He explained that the team has their “heads down with a lot of momentum”, and will share more “when the time [is] right”. To keep dedicated fans going however, he included a new piece of concept art, revealing a familiar faction will once again be running about Thedas: the Antivan Crows.

Hi Friends – sorry for no EA Play news this year but please know that the team is heads down with a lot of momentum and making great progress. We are excited to share more when the time is right. Please stay safe and have a great weekend! @SerGoldman @dragonage pic.twitter.com/eveXFbJtgY

The art depicts a new character decked out in full Crow gear, as others in the order appear to fight Tevintan guards. Being a bunch of highly skilled assassins hired during political conflicts, the Crows are a natural fit for a story set in the Tevinter Imperium. As we have heard throughout the series, especially from Dorian in Inquisition, politics is deadly in the mage-ruled Tevinter, so hiring an assassin or two is hardly beyond the pale over there.

But of course, when longtime fans think of the Antivan Crows, one person will come to mind: Zevran Arainai. In Dragon Age: Origins, this elven companion was our introduction to the Crows, as he was hired to kill the player character. Fans are hopeful that this art confirms he will make a return after being absent in Inquisition, but of course, he isn’t exactly on the best terms with the Crows, so an alliance with them is unlikely.

Instead of confirming a reunion with Zevran, it’s more likely that the focus of the concept art is a new companion. They strongly resemble another character (above) seen in art last year. Since there appears to be a heavy emphasis on subterfuge in what we’ve seen of the game, a Crow companion would fit right in.
