Dragon Age: Inquisition Speedrun At SGDQ 2021 Takes Just 39 Minutes

Dragon Age: Inquisition is a long ‘ol game. Even on a casual playthrough, speeding your way through the story is incredibly difficult, since the game requires you to complete a certain amount of side content before starting each main quest.

That proved to be no challenge for speedrunner Lemuura, however. At this year’s Summer Games Done Quick, he blasted through the RPG in just 39 minutes – a feat that takes 46 hours when playing the game as intended.

Strats used include skipping through cutscenes before they load, and tactically quick saving/quick loading to unlock every map location ridiculously early on in the game. There’s also an item duplication glitch, which allows the speedrunner to boost a companion’s stats without the need to tediously grind for XP. The route even involves exiting the game and downloading a completely different patch, to best utilise the features in each.

What’s most amazing is how this isn’t Lemuura’s fastest time. Right now he sits at second on the leaderboards, with a time of 36 minutes and 31 seconds. In first place is Issala, with 31 minutes and 39 seconds.

Summer Games Done Quick continues until tomorrow, with upcoming runs in Dark Souls 3, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, and more. One of the surprise hits of the online event was a speedrun of Geogussr – a Google Maps game. In under 35 minutes, speedrunner Havrd managed to perfectly guess the location from a completely random point on the globe, using clues from the surroundings to pinpoint it with eerie accuracy.
