During today’s many Gamescom 2020 presentations, the space simulation MMORPG Dual Universe got a brand new gameplay overview video. Hosted by Novaquark CEO and Creative Director JC Baillie, the video explores the possibilities within Dual Universe and highlights some of the greatest achievements thus far by the game’s community.

Dual Universe is a first-person sandbox MMO designed to combine elements of Eve Online and Star Citizen, among others, to craft its gameplay experience. Currently in beta, Dual Universe focuses on social gameplay that includes exploration, mining, crafting, and trade.

In the gameplay overview, JC Baillie showcased areas of the game developed entirely by players within the beta; Dual Universe is set in a continuous single-shard universe which allows players to fully edit the environment and “sculpt matter the way you want,” as Baillie said. The presentation included space stations and gigantic spaceships custom-made by players, and Baillie explained that not only are such structures craftable, but players can make blueprints and sell them using in-game currency to other players who wish to make them as well.

The presentation also included a brief look at Dual Universe‘s PvP mode, as well as methods of repairing damage to structures when PvP mode takes its toll on them. Customization in Dual Universe has become so intricate that players have actually built playable mini-games into their structures, including pool tables that can be interacted with.

Fans of games in the vein of Minecraft may find Dual Universe worth checking out after today’s Gamescom presentation, and as of today, its beta is open and joinable for interested parties.

Dual Universe is in development, with a beta version available for PC.
