Dying Light 2’s 4 player co-op detailed and cross-gen console comparisons revealed

With Dying Light 2 Stay Human out next month, Techland has released the final Dying 2 Know video and detailed some more key parts of the upcoming open world zombie game. In particular, this video details the co-op features and gives us a first comparison between the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S generation and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation.

You’ll have to wade through a fair bit of saccharine fluff to get there, but here’s the gist: The game can be played and finished in up to four player co-op, just as the original was. While there is a host player who has the main progression and world state, those joining the session will keep their gear, their player progression and so on. It’s not entirely dependent on the host player, though. At narrative forks in the road, all players in a co-op session will be able to vote on the choice (the host having the casting vote, though).

Skip to the 6 minute mark and you get to check out the game running on older consoles. This shows the game captures on PlayStation 4, Xbox One X, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Disappointingly, this comparison is windowed in a way that makes meaningful comparison very difficult, though you do get a feel for the performance jump between generations.

The game is going to be absolutely massive, with Techland recently proclaiming that it would take 500 hours to fully complete. There was a considerable backlash with many pointing out that 500 hours was just ridiculous so they added another tweet, “500 hours is related to maxing out the game – finishing all the quests, endings, and exploring every part of the world, but a regular player should finish the story + side quests and do quite a lot of exploring in less than 100 hours, so don’t worry!”

Thankfully, considering that even that is crazily huge, they have clarified again to say that finishing the main story, which is what most players are interested in, will take 20 hours.

How long are you planning on spending in the game? And will you have some friends coming on the journey with you?
