EA Won’t Be Showing Any Star Wars Games At EA Play This Month

EA has shot down any hopes gamers have of stealing a first glimpse at Respawn’s sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, stating in a post over on Twitter earlier today that it won’t be showing any games set in a galaxy far, far away during its upcoming EA Play Live exhibition.

Due to take place on July 22nd, the publisher has been heavily rumored by numerous industry insiders to be getting an announcement at the event, in turn boosting excitement among fans eager to see where Cal Kestis’ journey will take him next. The Padawan-turned-Jedi barely escapes with his life following a climactic encounter with the Inquisitors and Darth Vader himself, in turn achieving his goal of keeping fledgling Force-sensitives safe from the Empire.

We won’t be showing any new Star Wars games at EA Play Live on July 22nd…but all of us look forward to celebrating with you next year when we share our vision for the Galaxy far, far away!

Where the story will go from there is anyone’s guess, of course, though at the very least, those invested in the character will have to wait longer than expected to find out. While no such sequel has actually been announced in any official capacity, Respawn is known to have been hiring new staff to work on a Star Wars title, and with the original notching up impressive sales, it’s safe to assume Cal will be returning sooner or later.

EA is believed to have multiple Star Wars projects currently on the go in addition to Fallen Order 2, including one by Squadrons developer Motive Studio. DICE, too, has been attached to Battlefront III, though information relating to the latter is unreliable, to say the least. Regardless of which ones are actively being worked on, the end result is the same – no Star Wars news from EA until 2022. Let the waiting commence.
