Developer Crim have announced the release date window for Ignition Tokyo’s El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron on Windows PC.
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is an action game inspired by the Book of Enoch. He seeks out seven fallen angels to prevent a terrible flood which will destroy humanity. He is guided on his quest by archangels, and must steal weapons from weakened foes to fight back. The weapons will grow dull over time, and must be purified or replaced with new weapons.
As previously reported in early December 2020, Crim CEO and Sawaki Takeyasu and the game’s director Sawaki Takeyasu confirmed on Twitter the game would be coming to Windows PC. They noted the game will feature English and Japanese audio and subtitle options, and a launcher for an options menu alternative.
Now, a new press release has confirmed the release date window as mid-April 2021 on Windows PC (via Steam). As with most Steam releases, this is the worldwide release date. The game is also available on PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
However, we may have a more accurate guess of when this will be. Takeyasu tweeted (translation: Google Translate) that the game has been submitted to Steam, and was previously held up due to translating legal texts. He also stated the game’s sixth paperback bunko artbook would be available April 28th on Amazon Japan.
While mid-April would be from the 12th to the 18th, the art book may be released about one week after the game launches on PC. This would place the game’s launch around April 21st; but it is possible the game will launch earlier. This is not even considering issues arising during the game’s Steam submission, or unforeseen circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
