It had already been leaked prior, but Epic Games has officially made all three modern Tomb Raider games free on its storefront.
A few days ago, a Reddit post shared a list of games that would be made free on the Epic Games Store, with the most eye-catching part being the trilogy of modern Tomb Raider games scheduled for December 30.
Turns out that list was indeed accurate as all three games are now available on the Epic Games Store and will remain free for a week until January 6 at 4pm GMT.
As a reminder, the trilogy consists of the 2013 Tomb Raider, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider. The first two were developed by Crystal Dynamics, with Eidos-Montréal taking over for the third game.
Furthermore, these are the definitive editions of the games, so they come bundled with all the additional DLC, like extra costumes, weapons, and story content.
Acting as a reboot of the series, the games chronicle Lara Croft’s origins, and the adventures she embarked on to become the eponymous tomb raider, offering a much more grounded take on the character.
All three games were relatively successful, both critically and financially, but there is little news regarding the future of the Tomb Raider franchise. For its 25th anniversary, Crystal Dynamics did confirm a new game is in production, but it probably won’t be able to reveal it until 2022.

The only thing it said about the next game is that it will ‘unify’ the timelines of the modern games and the original series, which implies fans will get to see a slightly older, more experienced Lara.
The series will also be receiving an anime adaptation for Netflix, one that will take place after the events of Shadow Of The Tomb Raider. Camille Ludington won’t be reprising her role as Lara, however. Haley Atwell, who plays Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be voicing the character instead.
