Ah Well, at Least it’s Good News for Fortnite Fans
Every so often, developers will actually hotfix in unreleased content, just to make a coming update go by quicker for players. Is Epic Games doing this when they accidentally reveal item set names via game code? Hard to say, Fortnite’s next update isn’t out yet. Truth be told, there could be any number of reasons why these items were titled… wait, “S.H.I.E.L.D?” …okay nevermind, that’s pretty clear-cut.
First noticed by basically every reputable source of Fortnite leaks, the news has started to spread in the usual fashion. We’ve got social media posts, fan speculation, the works. Considering that a Disney property like “S.H.I.E.L.D”, isn’t just something you can throw onto any old item, it’s hard to blame them.
Yesterday Epic hotfixed the set name “S.H.I.E.L.D.” and it’s perfectly timed with the release of the Hawkeye series, so expect a collab tonight or in the next 2 days! pic.twitter.com/4Vf801FG9u

And as if that wasn’t enough, the timing of this leak makes things so much more likely. “Hawkeye”, a Marvel show with some… close ties to S.H.I.E.L.D just dropped on Disney+ not too long ago. Cross-promotion is a major part of Fortnite events, so everything just comes together.
Comickbook.com speculates that we’ll probably see some skins of the show’s main characters, on top of the item set we already know about. Kate Bishop and the eponymous “Hawkeye” are the most likely candidates here, which would make the show’s fans very happy.
This isn’t the first time Fortnite crossed over with Marvel, either. Thanos, the Avengers, and more have all found their place in Fortnite’s battle royale sandbox. If there’s anything big businesses like more than promotion, it’s cross-promotion – so it’s no surprise to see Disney coming in for more. If history’s anything to go by, this should be a profitable venture for both parties, and we’re likely to continue seeing more of ’em in the future.
