Epic Games Store – get Second Extinction free for the next 24 hours

0

We’re now into day four of the Epic Games Store Christmas giveaway party. Second Extinction is now available to claim, replacing Loop Hero from yesterday.

You have 24 hours to get your hands on this latest freebie. To redeem any free games, all you need to do is sign into the Epic Games Store website or client, then add them to your basket and go through checkout. Once purchased, they will remain in your library to keep forever.

As in 2020 and 2019, each game will be available for one day before disappearing, with one exception. One final free game will drop on December 30th, 2021 and remain on the Epic Games Store for a week.

So far we’ve had a solid selection of games on the house. These include Shenmue III, Neon Abyss, Remnant: From the Ashes, and Loop Hero.

Second Extinction is best described as a Left 4 Dead style co-op shooter that swaps out zombies for mutated dinosaurs. The game is currently in early access with more content and features promised as we push into 2022. Here’s what Thomas had to say in his recent gameplay preview:

Second Extinction is a game that sounds great on paper. Developed by a small studio of veterans from within Just Cause creator Avalanche Studios, it’s a Left 4 Dead style co-op shooter that pits players against an army of vicious dinosaurs.

There’s a lot to get excited about, but unfortunately, Second Extinction has yet to live up to what it could be. Fortunately, it’s still an early access title, so there’s still plenty of time for Systemic Reaction to unlock its full potential.

As it stands, Second Extinction is an interesting concept that falls short of what it could be. Fortunately, Avalanche Studios past experience with the Just Cause series could be just what the game needs to bring it inline with player expectations, but only time will tell.

If you’ve only just signed up to the Epic Games Store to take advantage of this deal, we have good news for you. Free games aren’t just for Christmas – at least one complementary title is made available every Thursday, so make sure you hold onto those login details.
