Epic Games Store Tweak Would Be A Huge Improvement to Game Libraries

The Epic Games Store launched back in 2018, but fans of the PC storefront continue to think of new ideas for it. One fan recently came up with an idea that would be a huge improvement to the Epic Games Store library.

Reddit user Magneto– recently posted their idea for a revised Epic Games Store library. PC gamers who use the Epic Games Store may be familiar with how uninstalled titles are void of color, but Magneto–'s revised version of an EGS library shows all of the titles in their natural color and light. Epic Games may not be working to change this, but Magneto–'s colorful UI interested many people online.

Magneto– suggested that the reason they created this idea of a new Epic Games Store library is that the existing system looks dull and depressing to them. Adding the corresponding colors for each game made them stand out a lot more, just as an Epic Games Store library full of installed titles looks. Magneto– shared their version of the EGS library alongside the traditional one to further prove their point.

Magneto–'s colorful library simply goes in alphabetical order, but if it was official, it would likely benefit from the various search features of the Epic Games Store. Although the color-void titles help users know what's installed and what isn't, there's also a filter to locate installed titles. This has led many fans of the EGS to question why Epic Games hasn't added this detail to the library.

One Reddit user pointed out that Magneto– may not have had to do any photoshopping in order to create their version of an EGS library. Simply downloading every title will fill an Epic Games Store user's account with color, but they may not have the storage space to do so. Another fan of the Epic Games Store pointed out that the likely reason Epic has opted for this UI is so users easily know what's installed.

Showing both versions side-by-side, one Reddit user suggested that Epic Games should actually allow players to toggle between the colorful library and the darker version. Toggles like this are common on popular mobile apps and consoles, with one being night mode and the other offering a brighter alternative.

Several Reddit users pointed out that the Steam and GOG storefronts both offer a more colorful experience and some even admitted to preferring to browse there. One Epic Games Store user admitted that they scroll past games in their libraries all the time due to the generic dark look of each of the uninstalled titles. Another cheekily suggested simply downloading every title, including the Epic Games Store freebies.

Adding more color to the Epic Games Store may make it more lively and engaging, while some users may find it easier to located titles with these changes. Some Reddit users claimed that they prefer the current Epic Games Store library, but a toggle would offer the best of both worlds. Magneto–'s idea of a library doubtlessly makes each title stand out more, rather than just the installed titles.
