Every Ship Upgrade In Spiritfarer

Quick Links

While traveling in Spiritfarer, you may notice that your ship is a little small. As new spirits join you on your journey, things will get cramped. Fortunately, there are three different types of upgrades that you can work on over the course of your journey.

In this guide, we are going to go over each ship upgrade, as well as what it does and the requirements to get it. First, let's take a look at where you will go to upgrade your ship.

How To Upgrade Your Ship

All upgrades can be purchased from Albert in the Shipyard. You will meet Albert shortly after starting the game, so you don't have to worry about unlocking this location. If you lose track of him, his coordinates are (61, 64).

Albert will crack some jokes before showing you all potential upgrades, shown in the image above. You will be able to upgrade the blueprint station and boat size, as well as add improvements to help with traveling.

There are several upgrades for each of these categories, so we are going to go over each one, as well as what they do and what they will cost.

Blueprint Station

The blueprint station is located near the back of your boat on top of Stella's cabin. Here, you will be able to add more buildings and edit the existing layout of the ship. In total, you can upgrade the blueprint station five times.

Below, you can find a list of all upgrades along with the materials required.

Upgrade Name Blueprints Unlocked Material Required

  • Cellar

Each of these upgrades requires materials from buildings in the previous upgrade. For example, to unlock the Craftsman upgrade, you will need linen thread, which can be made from the loom. The loom is unlocked in the previous upgrade.

Ship Size

As you add blueprints to your ship, you will inevitably run out of room to build them all. At Albert's Shipyard, you will also be able to increase the overall size of your ship. This will expand the central platform where you place buildings. In total, there are eight different upgrades to increase ship size.

Every size upgrade will only require Glim. Unlike upgrading the blueprint station, you do not have to worry about gathering materials. Instead, you will need to save up a lot of Glim. You can find all size upgrades and their price.

As you can see, upgrading your ship all the way is pretty expensive. In total, every upgrade will cost you 184,200 Glim. This is a lot, but there are ways to make Glim. Don't forget to complete requests for NPCs, as well as sell any items that you do not need. In addition, you may find Glim bottles while fishing.

Boat Improvements

Lastly, let's go over boat improvements. These are upgrades that will allow you to access new areas and travel faster. Improvements are an important part of Spiritfarer; you will need to unlock them to continue on in the story and explore more areas on the map.

The first improvement will be included early on in the story; Albert will tell you to build a mailbox, allowing you to receive mail. This is the only upgrade that does not deal with ship movement. After the mailbox improvement is complete, you will be able to upgrade the ship at your own pace. Check out all the available improvements for your ship below.
