Every Tool In Tribes Of Midgard, Worst To Best

Tribes of Midgard is an action survival RPG in a Norse mythology setting. In Tribes of Midgard, your main job is to work with other players to prevent your village from being overrun by invading giants from other worlds in order to prevent Ragnarök and the ultimate destruction of Midgard.

The tools you use in Tribes of Midgard will be a major factor determining your success. A basic Flint Lumberaxe and Pickaxe are all you need to get started chopping down trees and mining ore. However, speaking to Eyrún (the village tinker) to upgrade these tools is a critical step towards gathering resources quicker and building up your village.

Flint Lumberaxe

The Flint Lumberaxe is the first woodcutting tool available in the game. It does the job of getting your character started as a lumberjack but will need to be upgraded quickly to continue other upgrades for your settlement and to gather wood more efficiently. Keep in mind tools cannot be used for combat and based on the flimsiness of this lumberaxe, that makes perfect sense.

Being a lumberaxe suitable for beginners, the Flint Lumberaxe is easy to craft, requiring only 2 branches and 1 piece of flint.

Flint Pickaxe

Similar to its lumberaxe counterpart, the Flint Pickaxe is the first pickaxe available in Tribes of Midgard. It is used to gather minerals and ores from the various deposits found around the continent. Throughout the game, you will need to use materials gained from mining to craft new weapons and upgrade your village’s defenses.

The Flint Pickaxe works great for early game mining, but you will need to upgrade it as quickly as possible to improve your ore gathering efficiency. This first-tier pickaxe is easy to craft and only requires 3 branches and 2 pieces of flint.

Stone Lumberaxe

Compared to the Flint Lumberaxe, the Stone Lumberaxe is a hefty upgrade. The extra stone likely gives the axe more weight that can be used to force down thicker trees more quickly. Upgrading to the Stone Lumberaxe as quickly as possible is a good idea because you will be able to gather valuable wood at a faster pace, used for crafting village fortifications and also for crafting shields and bows.

Crafting the Stone Lumberaxe is a fairly simple feat. You will need the Flint Lumberaxe and 2 stones for Eyrún to upgrade your lumberaxe.

Stone Pickaxe

The Stone Pickaxe is the second-tier pickaxe available and it is more efficient than the Flint Pickaxe at mining the many types of mineral deposits found in Tribes of Midgard. If you want to truly progress in the game and mine more valuable mineral nodes, like silver, you will definitely need to get this pickaxe as soon as possible.

Upgrading your pickaxe to this tier is simple and requires only a few resources. You will need your Flint Pickaxe and 3 stones to complete the upgrade.

Silver Lumberaxe

The third-tier lumberaxe is even more capable at logging than the Stone Lumberaxe and is fortified with silver metal to give it a sharper edge. It is described in-game as “A more durable wood axe to fill up Midgard with stumps”.

The Silver Lumberaxe requires the Stone Lumberaxe plus 2 stones and 1 silver to craft. Silver can be mined in the mysterious Land of Pools region of the map. Just keep in mind that you might need some powerful weapon upgrades to go exploring here safely.

Silver Pickaxe

The third-tier pickaxe is the Silver Pickaxe and like its lumberaxe equivalent, it is fortified with silver metal which makes it an even more effective mining tool. Visually, tools in Tribes of Midgard undergo the most transformation between the stone and silver tiers and silver tools seem to be the base of even better tools.

Crafting the Silver Pickaxe will require the Stone Pickaxe, 3 stones, and 2 silvers. Remember to be careful and be prepared for a fight when mining for silver.

Crystal Lumberaxe

Crystal tools will allow you to seriously up your resource gathering game. As its name suggests, the Crystal Lumberaxe is imbued with precious stones and is even more effective than its predecessor at chopping down trees.

To craft the Crystal Lumberaxe, you will need a Silver Lumberaxe, 3 cut stones, 2 silvers, and 1 amethyst. The minerals can be obtained through mining and Eyrún can craft cut stones using flint and stones as ingredients. Amethyst deposits can be found in the Ash Beach region of the map.

Crystal Pickaxe

The fourth-tier pickaxe is also adorned with crystals and will significantly upgrade your mining capabilities. There is only one pickaxe in the game that is more effective than the Crystal Pickaxe and it is significantly harder to obtain, so this one will be your go-to pickaxe for a while.

You will need the Silver Pickaxe, 5 cut stones, 3 silvers, and 2 amethysts to craft the crystal pickaxe. These materials can be obtained in the same manner as those required for the Crystal Lumberaxe. Traveling to Ash Beach to obtain previous amethyst crystals can be dangerous, so make sure your combat equipment is up to par.

Gold Lumberaxe

The fifth and final tier of lumberaxe available is the Gold Lumberaxe. Shimmering with gold plating, there is no logging job this axe can’t handle.

You will need the Crystal Lumberaxe, 3 cut stones, 1 gold, and 1 golden horn to obtain the Gold Lumberaxe. In addition, due to the special nature of this lumberaxe, you will also need to reach level 36 before the recipe to craft the Gold Lumberaxe becomes unlockable. Golden horns can be obtained by completing various challenges and activities such as killing giants and bosses.

Gold Pickaxe

The fifth-tier legendary pickaxe is truly a sight to behold… both in its beauty and capability to mine the most difficult of ore quarries.

To obtain the Gold Pickaxe, you will need to reach level 42. Only then is the ability to upgrade the Crystal Pickaxe to its legendary gold form unlocked. In other words, you will need to slay a lot of giants before you can obtain this amazing pickaxe. In addition to the Crystal Pickaxe, you will need 4 cut stones, 2 gold, and 1 golden horn to craft this legendary pickaxe.
