Some Pins form sets known as Ensembles, as befits a game where fashion plays such a large role. When you equip each Pin of an Ensemble onto your characters, you unlock a special ability that improves the efficacy of the constituent Pins. These are not really well-hinted at in the game, with most Ensembles really only being obvious once you look at the names of the Pins used.

Every Ensemble And What They Do

Below is a table of every Ensemble, which Pins they require, and what they do. You'll know if you have equipped the Ensemble as the Pins will get a small chain symbol underneath them and a new tab in their description box that tells you what the Ensemble does.
