Evil Dead: The Game To Launch February 2022, Says Bruce Campbell

Originally slated for launch later this year, Evil Dead: The Game may be aiming for a February 2022 release window instead, at least according to actor Bruce Campbell. The title recently received a new gameplay trailer during the Summer Game Fest, though no exact release date was revealed back then.

Campbell made his statement during a Q&A session dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the original Evil Dead movie. The actor said Evil Dead: The Game is "surprisingly good,” joking he’s naturally supposed to say that every time he’s asked about it. Campbell added that he believes it is coming in February 2022.

According to Campbell, the delay is in aid of a major upgrade being made to the game. In case you're looking for any reassurances however, Williams spoke incredibly highly of the project, stating, "all you gaming bastards will be very happy with the wait".

While we don’t know what exactly Campbell was referring to, it probably has something to do with a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade. Speaking of his prior experience with game development, the actor alluded to how older platforms can "die" shortly after the release of a title, suggesting this update will ensure that the game runs well on more up-to-date hardware.

It is worth noting there was no official statement regarding the delay from the game’s publisher Boss Team Games, or developer Saber Interactive. We recommend waiting for their comments on the subject just to know for sure if Campbell was right here, or if some misunderstanding occurred.

Many games have already been postponed to 2022 in recent months, typically as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Just recently, Tango Gameworks has officially delayed Ghostwire: Tokyo to early 2022 to protect the health of the development team. Before that, Sloclap moved Sifu into the next year to prevent the team from crunching.

Evil Dead: The Game is being developed for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Right now, if you desperately want to play as Ash with his chainsaw, you can simply try out this new Skyrim mod for the true Evil Dead experience.
