Fallout 76: The 15 Best Legendary Effects For Armor | Game Rant

Fallout 76 Armor

Fallout 76 journey has been a roller coaster since its release. The game had a mixed reception on its release, and not everyone was pleased with it. However, Bethesda’s recent attempt to resurrect the game by releasing a huge update and moving it onto steam has turned a lot of heads.

One of the main features of the game is the Legendary Effects available in it. These enhancers change and essentially upgrade a weapon or armor it is applied to. Although every Legendary Effect has some use, not every one of the effects is viable. Here are 10 Legendary Effects in Fallout 76 that are best suited for armor.

Updated on August 3rd, 2021 by Josh Davison: Despite a rocky start, Fallout 76 has managed to find solid footing and has become a rather beloved and widely enjoyed addition to the series as well as the particular MMO space that it occupies. Despite the changes that the game has experienced, one thing remains the same: Legendary Effects are vital. Some can make a very dramatic difference to one's game experience, though not all Legendary Effects are created equal. There are plenty of Legendary Effects that just don't make enough of an improvement, so it's important to know which ones are the best of the best and worth applying to any given armor. With these equipped, you should be on your way to having some of the best armor in Fallout 76.

15 Powered Increases Action Point Regeneration Speed

The Action Point system is the Fallout series' version of stamina, and it dictates how often the player can run, jump, and use the V.A.T.S system. VA.T.S. is a different animal in Fallout 76, as it auto-aims at an opponent rather than slowing downtime to let the player decide how they're going to attack.

The Powered Legendary Effect increases the regeneration of Action Points so that the player is never too low on stamina and can be vital for surviving out in the Wasteland and makes it easier to get around.

14 Mutant Slayer Helps The Player Against Super Mutants

Super Mutants are one of the most pervasive and dangerous threats in the Wasteland, and they have proven to be the death of many a Fallout player. Thankfully, there is a Legendary Effect that makes surviving a Super Mutant attack much easier.

The Mutant Slayer's Legendary Effect reduces damage suffered by a Super Mutant's attack by 15%. This can be the difference between life and death when facing down these burly green beasts.

13 Diver's Makes The Wastelander Amphibious

Sometimes one doesn't know how useful a perk or ability can be until they need it, and that is certainly the case with the Diver's Legendary Effect.

This one is simple; it allows the player to breathe underwater. The Wasteland of Fallout 76 isn't the most aquatic place in the world, but being able to survive indefinitely underwater is always a useful talent to have.

12 Acrobat Keeps A Long Drop From Killing The Player

In a similar manner, fall damage can be a surprise killer for many a player, and that goes for just about every modern videogame franchise under the sun. Thankfully, there's a Legendary Effect for that as well.

The Acrobat's Legendary Effect reduces fall damage by 50%, which is a massive reduction compared to many other Legendary Effects of this kind. Stopping fall damage can save a Wastelander's life, especially if they're trying to make use of a jetpack.

11 Life Saving Gives The Player One Last Saving Throw

Sometimes a player can just get caught off-guard, out-gunned, or otherwise brutalized by enemies out in the Wasteland. Sometimes one gets incapacitated and needs a leg up. The Life Saving Legendary Effect can resolve such situations without any outside help.

When a player is downed, the Life Saving Effect has a 50% chance of administering a Stimpack and getting the player back into the fight. However, this can only happen once a minute, so try not to get downed again after that first Live Saving Stimpack.

10 Auto-Stim Provides A Life-Saving Stimpack When Needed

A very frequently used Legendary Effect in Fallout 76, Auto-Stim will allow users to automatically apply a Stimpak when the health is below 25%. This is great for long runs and when a player is going against a hoard of enemies.

A drawback is that Stimpak usage is limited to one per every sixty seconds, so players can’t exploit the item by constantly dropping below 25% health. Auto-Stim is also a very basic Legendary Effect that isn’t hard to obtain.

9 Chameleon Blends A Wastelander Into Their Environment

Best suited for players that like to sneak around without garnering any extra attention. The enhancement will allow you to blend with the environment, creating perfect stealth. However, it is to be noted that Chameleon only works when the user is not moving and staying still.

The enhancement is also great for dodging enemies after they have been altered about your position. Chameleon is great when paired up with Regeneration Legendary Effect.

8 Weightless Gives A Player Mobile Freedom

Weightless is great for players that like to constantly hop from one place to another. It essentially reduces the player’s character weight by 90% and does not count as armor for Chameleon mutation. Weightless will allow players to make easy movements, and overall the combat becomes much easier.

However, the Legendary Effect doesn’t provide any resistance, and players should only drift towards Weightless when they are packed on other resistances.

7 Regenerating Gives The Player Must-Needed Longevity

One of the best Legendary Effects to use, Regenerating allows a player to heal whenever they are out of combat. The enhancement is great for sustaining health in the game and one of the best for doing so. It also minimizes the need for healing items, which ultimately improves the economy and saves a lot of inventory space.

You can constantly go in and out of a fight, and keep on regenerating health for some easy kills.

6 Vanguard's Makes The Player The Tank Of The Wasteland

The more health you have the more resistances you will gain. Vanguard's is a vital Legendary Effect for players that like to opt for a tank build. It also grants up to 35 damage which makes it a very versatile perk.

Pair Vanguard's with Regeneration and you have a proper powerhouse tank build that is very hard to take down. It is also one of the most commonly used Legendary Effects.

5 Poisoner’s Provides The Player With Poison Resistance

Poison is one of the most devastating special effects in the game. Once affected by Poison, the health bar will slowly start to chip away eventually leading to death. To counter poison, Poisoner’s is the automatic Legendary Effect choice.

It increases the poison resistance of a player by +25, which is also great for Bloodied build. It’s usually recommended to have more than one poison armor, but at the very least players should always carry one.

4 Bolstering Increases Defense When Health Is Low

For players that are susceptible to playing on a knife’s edge, Bolstering is a perfect fit. Contrary to Vanguard's, Bolstering increases resistance when a player is low on health. On top of that, it also provides additional damage (up to 35), just like Vanguard's.

Bolstering is suited for aggressive players that like to push boundaries constantly. Take note that it’s not easy to fully utilize Bolstering, and players that are capable of doing so often find decent success in the game.

3 Unyielding Boosts Stats When Health Is Low

A great Legendary Effect to run with Bolstering is Unyielding. In addition to gaining extra resistance from Bolstering when low on health, Unyielding will add +3 to every stat. The combination of Unyielding and Bolstering is one of the best glass cannon builds in the game and is very effective when used appropriately.

But as mentioned before, glass cannon builds are very hit or miss, and not every player is capable of handling it. Be careful when using Unyielding in tandem with such a fragile build.

2 Reduced Weapon Weight Lessens The Player's Load

Weapons in Fallout 76 generally carry a lot of weight, and any player boasting multiple weapons will feel the weight of it. Reduced Weapon Weight reduces the weight of every weapon by 20%, and although it’s not a lot, it gets the job done.

Typically, players carry a lot of weapons so that they have one for every possible situation. Thing is, constantly switching between heavy weapons can be a hassle and might backfire at times, especially when switching guns can take what feels like an entire minute. Reduced Weapon Weight mitigates this issue, making both movement and combat for any player much easier.

1 Sentinel’s Makes A Static Player Much Harder To Kill

One of the best Legendary Effects in the game, Sentinel’s is a borderline broken perk. It has a 75% chance to mitigate the damage taken by 15% when the player is standing still. Perfect for players that are new to the game, all that is required for triggering the Legendary Effect is not making any movement.

It should be noted that Sentinel is difficult to acquire, and players will need to grind real hard to get their hands on it. The effort will be worth it.
