Fantasian update 2.0.2 fixes freezing and graphics issues

Mistwalker Corporation has released Fantasian update 2.0.2, fixing a number of issues for the JRPG.

Available across all Apple platforms, the latest Fantasian patch doesn’t add any new content, making the following changes:

– Memory leak has been fixed, and the freeze that occurs when executing warp, etc. has been improved.

– “Graphics Quality” setting has been added to the Config Menu. (Try setting this to “Low” if the game runs slowly.)

– Game Center access point has been added on top of the Camp Menu.

– Misc. small bug fixes

Fantasian launched earlier this year, exclusively on Apple Arcade. Those with an active subscription can download and play the roleplaying games on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

The game has won rave reviews among genre die-hards and critics. If the name Mistwalker doesn’t sound familiar, then it’s time to up your JRPG credentials. The studio was founded by Final Fantasy creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi, and has worked on titles including Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, The Last Story, and Terra Battle. Fantasian marks a return to Mistwalker’s roots with an emphasis on clever battle mechanics and character-driven narratives. What’s particularly eye-catching is its art style which uses hand-made dioramas carefully crafted by the developers.

Fantasian Part Two launched in August, delivering a second half that reportedly weighs between 40 and 60 hours. Fantasian has yet to be announced for other platforms, despite being a easy candidate for a Nintendo Switch Port.

“We approached this game as though it was going to be on a console platform, and we really didn’t have it in our mind that we’re making this to cater to mobile,” Sakaguchi has previously stated. “UI elements were taken into account, but with the experience itself, we always wanted to bring this fully fleshed-out console experience onto Apple Arcade.”

Apple Arcade is priced at £4.99 a month with a free trial available to everyone. The service now has more than 200 games, including original hits as well as “plus” versions of favourites such as Cut The Rope and Monument Valley.
