Far Cry 6 Runs In 4K With 60 FPS On PS5 And Xbox Series X

Ubisoft has revealed what players should expect from Far Cry 6 in terms of performance across next-gen and last-gen consoles. According to a recent interview, things are going to be “silky smooth" for those on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as the game boasts full 4K with 60 FPS. But the team was quick to mention that last-gen is getting considered too.

Far Cry 6 developer Ben Hall spoke to Gamereactor, and brought up the challenges that come with bringing a game to two generations of PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The studio wanted to make sure that Fary Cry 6 is a title that "everyone could get their hands on and enjoy,” regardless of the platform they own. Of course, the devs also discuss how they have utilized all of the new tech that comes with the next generation of consoles, yet they say they had to ensure that any upgrade "wasn't going to, in any way, impact the experience" for those on last-gen.

According to Hall, with the new consoles, the players will get “a super smooth experience, a silky-smooth, high-resolution experience.” PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are both are capable of “full 4K, 60 FPS with the HD texture pack, and the faster loading times,” so playing on one of those will likely be your best bet.

However, with the PS4 and Xbox One versions, the director said “everything that we've built we had to make sure is running super solid on those machines.” Ben Hall further explains “it's been a lot of effort put in the past months and it's been an extra challenge for the team.”

As far as we know, there are 12 of Ubisoft's internal studios working on the game. With thousands of devs across the globe, the company hopefully has all the necessary resources to provide the performance levels you're expecting from one of 2021's biggest launches.

It's not the first time when Far Cry 6 devs have discussed support for the last-gen platforms. Back in May, lead gameplay designer David Grivel assured fans that Ubisoft will not “abandon” the PS4 and Xbox One in favour of the next-gen upgrades. Grivel also mentioned the developers plan to showcase the game's performance on the PS4 and Xbox One before the game's launch on October 7.
