A new Free Login campaign has been started for Final Fantasy 14 and will allow returning players to play up to two weeks of the game for free.
The campaign started on July 9 and will run all the way up to August 23. Players who participate don't get that much free time with the game, as once you start you'll only get two weeks of time in the game.

Rather than being aimed at new players, the free login campaign is more geared towards players who have started Final Fantasy 14 at one point or another but have since jumped off. The purpose of the campaign is to show them what they've missed since being gone and hopefully bring them back in.
As such, there are several different criteria that a player has to meet before being able to take part in the Free Login campaign. The first of these is that the player must have purchased and registered Final Fantasy 14 in the past. The next step is that all registered service accounts must be inactive during the campaign period.
The final step is that the registered account that is being used must have been inactive for at least 30 days. If the player meets all of these criteria, then they can participate in the Free Login campaign and get access to 14 days worth of Final Fantasy 14.
There are a few things to note regarding the login campaign. For starters, the countdown clock will continue ticking even if you aren't playing the game, so being logged out will mean that the free amount of time will continue ticking on. Accounts that have been suspended due to bans also can't take part in the campaign, and the service account can't have any active accounts at all before taking part.
All of these requirements should make it clear that the campaign is meant for returning players that have stopped playing, rather than new players. New players can still play Final Fantasy 14 for free all the way up to Level 60, however.
