Seasonal events are a mainstay in Final Fantasy 14. Every real-world summer, the Moonfire Faire comes to Eorzea. This beachside celebration gives Final Fantasy 14 players a chance to bathe in virtual sunshine and earn appropriate summertime rewards. In the 2021 rendition of the Moonfire Faire, however, the main prize is not one that gamers would associate with hot days or sandy beaches. This guide will explain how to get the Polar Bear mount in the Moonfire Faire 2021 event in Final Fantasy 14.
Some of the rarest mounts to obtain in Final Fantasy 14 are the ones that are available for a limited time or cost real money. Seasonal event mounts fall into both categories. Special event rewards are only available via gameplay during the seasonal period but typically become available through the game's premium cash shop in the following years. Fans who don't want to fork over their cash for the Polar Bear mount will want to participate in the 2021 Moonfire Faire before it ends on August 26th.

Obtaining the Polar Bear mount entails completing the short quest chain available as part of the Moonfire Faire 2021 event. The quest Unseasonable Chills can be obtained from Mayaru Moyaru at Limsa Lominsa, Upper Decks (X:11.5, Y:13.8). The NPC and location are the same as previous Moonfire Faire events, so veteran players will be familiar with the routine. The quest will direct players to the usual staging grounds for the Moonfire Faire – Costa del Sol.
Following the quest and talking to the necessary NPCs for Unseasonable Chills is easy enough. The tricky part of the event is completing the FATE "A Blizzard of Bombards." Luckily, seasonal events are quite popular and it's likely that many other players will be around to complete the FATE. The FATE spawns at certain intervals, so if it's not up when adventurers need to complete it they can wait around at Eastern La Noscea (X:37.2, Y:27.0) and it will appear soon enough.
Completing "A Blizzard of Bombards" is the last step in the questline to earn the Polar Bear Horn for summoning the new mount. The FATE also rewards Moonfire Faire Vouchers that can be redeemed for special furniture items that a player can use for their Final Fantasy 14 house. Clearing the FATE one time with a gold rating will yield enough vouchers to purchase all the new furniture items. Those who did not earn enough Vouchers the first time around, or who wish to purchase duplicate furnishings or additional firework-type items, can repeat the FATE as often as they wish during the event period.
As fans wait for the release of Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker, seasonal events like the Moonfire Faire help ease the lull of content in the meantime. Collecting rare minions or mounts is another pastime that keeps dedicated FF14 players busy. For the collectors out there, the Polar Bear makes for a whimsical new addition to the traversal toolkit.
Final Fantasy 14 is available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
