In a recent Famitsu interview Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade director Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed there are no plans for DLC in the game.
When asked on whether or not the new PlayStation 5 port of the remake will include DLC like the new Yuffie DLC, Nomura said there are no plans for additional DLC. He noted the Yuffie content was called DLC due to the “upgrade process”, as they always intended on making a PS5 version and not DLC.
“For the sake of the upgrade, we had to call Yuffie’s addition “DLC” as a result. However, our original intention was to make a PS5 version of FFVII Remake, not to make DLC,” Nomura said. “Therefore, there are no plans for DLC at this time”
He added, “With FFVII Remake Intergrade, we were able to prepare the environment for PS5, and the transition to the sequel development went smoothly. The roadmap to the completion of the game is our top priority, so if there is a need to consider DLC, it will be after the game is completed.”
It’s worth pointing out that the Yuffie content will be coming with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, but owners of the PS4 original will have to buy it separately – as downloadable content.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade launches June 10th on PlayStation 5.
