Final Fantasy Xiv: 5 Beast Tribes That Are Cool (& 5 Worth Skipping)

In Final Fantasy XIV, there are beast tribes that players can do daily content for in order to get rewards and experience. Between A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers, there are a ton of beast tribes. Each one has its own story, special rewards, and can be class locked for just combat classes, crafting, or gathering. It can be rare to find a player who has done one hundred percent of all the beast tribes. It takes a ton of time to level up your reputation with these tribes in order to unlock the more valuable rewards.

For those who do not have the time for all the tribes, what tribes should they focus on? Here are five tribes that have cool rewards and five tribes that are worth skipping if you don’t have the time.

10 (Cool) Namazu

These funny little guys are in the Stormblood expansion, and their beast tribe quest-line is hilarious in story and worth it for the rewards. What sets them apart from all other beast tribes is that they can be used by both gathering and crafting classes. No other beast tribe is open to both!

The humor of the Namazu questline, the experience points, and the top rewards make it one of the best. Through them, you can learn the Yol Dance emote, get the Mikoshi mount, a minion, orchestration role, and more.

9 (Skip) Ixali

The Ixali are the most often skipped beast tribe by players for good reason. Their quests are especially tedious. They are the first crafting centered beast tribe, and its easy to tell that due to how unpolished the quests feel in comparison to the later ones. To craft for them, you have to wear a special pair of gloves with a low item level. Sometimes their quests send to you different areas that you have to teleport to as well.

Besides being tedious, the rewards are lacking. You can get a minion and mount, but no one to few players like or use them.

8 (Cool) Pixies

The Pixies are one of the more recent beast tribes, and thus incredibly polished. Firstly, players love the area the beast tribe unlocks. You get to unlock a sort of dream world full of toys, structures, and sweets. It is great for players who like to take cute screenshots of their character.

Besides that, the story is pretty interesting. You learn more about one of the most interesting bosses in Shadowbringers: Titania. You also can get one of the cutest mounts: a porxie. There is also cute furniture to unlock like macaroon cushions, flower lamps, and stuffed porxies.

7 (Skip) Vanu Vanu

The Vanu Vanu are out of Heavensward, and are often forgotten about by players. Their story, characters, and designs are not interesting. Their mount is a serpent that feels oddly stiff in its animation. Their minions are not ever seen because players who have them don’t even use them. Their dance emote is also pretty lacking in interesting movements, though kind of funny and amusing at first glance.

Besides all that, the Sea of Clouds is an annoying area to do quests in. Players are often flying up and down constantly to see what floating rock a quest is located on.

6 (Cool) Moogles

Moogles are a major staple of the Final Fantasy series. That alone can make their beast tribe quests worth it for some players. However, its more than just these creatures being iconic. They offer one of the more popular mounts: a Cloud Mallow. They also can get the player clothes like Mog Slippers and an adorable dance emote.

Their area, while is a bunch of floating rocks, is pretty flat. So it is easy to find different locations.

5 (Skip) Amalj’aa

These guys are among the first beast tribes in the game for players to interact with. Much like the Vanu Vanu, they suffer from being ultimately uninteresting. There is an interesting Miqo’te character who counts herself as one of them, but besides that, the story is easily forgotten about.

All you can really get from these guys is a drake mount and a minion that is not popular among players. The drake really pales in comparison to a dragon mount players automatically get in Heavensward.

4 (Cool) Ananta

The snake people aren’t loved as much for their story as much as the stuff they can get the player. Out of all the beast tribes, the Ananta in Stormblood have the most rewards. Not one, but two mounts (an elephant and griffon). An emote that is pretty popular. Maidservant permits so that you can have Ananta work in your home. You also can get false nails, which a ton of players strive for because you can basically paint your characters nails with that piece of gear dyed.

3 (Skip) Sahagin

These fish people are forgotten by even players that are still in A Realm Reborn content. Their questline is uninteresting and their rewards are much like the Amalj’aa in terms of lacking. Their mount is not that different from the drake, but a little more uncanny and dinosaur-like. You can get a minion of them, but their design is not the sort you probably want following you around in comparison to the many cute minions available on the market board.

2 (Cool) Qitari

The Qitari are one of the recent Shadowbringers beast tribes. Their story is interesting, as you can make decisions that influence the tribe as it builds. No other beast tribe has done that. The tribe also revolves around the popular minion: the Great Serpent of Ronka. Players love this minion with its chubby designs, screaming face, and overall mysterious background.

This beast tribe gets you different Serpent of Ronka minions as well as a mount. It also gives you access to resources to make an adorable rocking chair for your house with a Great Serpent of Ronka pillow.

1 (Skip) Vath

The Vath are actually a favorite among some because the story of breaking away from the hive mind is interesting and unique. However, in comparison to other beast tribes, it doesn’t have very great rewards available. Their mount is a bug that some players may find cute, but most will find nightmarish instead. Their design isn’t great for a minion either.
