Final Fantasy: XIV Endwalker Expansion Delayed by Two Weeks

Ffxiv

Today Square Enix announced that the new expansion for Final Fantasy XIV titled “Endwalker” has been delayed.

At the beginning of the letter from the producer live broadcast that is going on right now, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida announced that the expansion will be released on December 7, while early access will begin on December 3.

The previous release date was November 23, 2021, so the delay is only a couple of weeks.

Yoshida-san explained that Endwalker is one of the biggest expansions released by the team yet. While the development of content is on track, Yoshida-san mentioned that the expansion ties a lot of loose ends in terms of story, and many of them are very subtle.

The team has been checking all of these subtle elements to make sure that everything is in tip-top shape, and this has infringed into the QA time for the final master version.

Yoshida-san thinks that it’s important that the proper quality checks are done before the launch of the expansion, taking the time they need, so a decision has been taken as of last Friday to delay the expansion.

Clearly upset while making the announcement, Yoshida-san also mentioned that he feels really bad about this, , because this is the first time the team had to announce a delay.

We hear that two weeks will be enough because the content is complete and what’s missing is just testing, so there is no need for a larger delay.

We also get the schedule for the first two updates. The Pandaemonium raid will be launched on December 21 with patch 6.01. Its Savage mode, new Allagan Tomestones, and new gear will launch on January 4 with patch 6.05.

The new Final Fantasy XIV expansion Endwalker will release for PS5, PS4, and PC. A benchmark has been released for PC, including the male viera character creation. You can also read our hands-on preview.
