Final Fantasy XIV Make it Rain Campaign

Square Enix have announced the launch of the Make it Rain Campaign in the Gold Saucer for MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV.

The Manderville Gold Saucer was established to help provide work for the people of Ul’dah, with issues of poverty further magnified by refugees from Ala Mhigo. For players, this means casino and minigame fun.

Players can earn MGP from amusement-inspired minigames, Chocobo Racing, Triple Triad, Doman Mahjong, lotteries, and more. These can then be spent on new emotes, hairstyles, minions, mounts, and gear intended for Glamours (using the appearance of one piece of gear while a more powerful one is equipped). Players cannot buy MGP with real world money.

The Make It Rain event, running from now until August 11th (7:59 a.m. PT), will see players earn more MGP than usual. Further, certain prizes are cheaper during this period, and a new quest can unlock the Vexed emote, and earn an extra 5,000 MGP via an MGP Bronze Card. It should be noted seasonal quests must be completed before the end of the event.

While players may be tempted to buy up the prizes currently available, September will see the return of the Final Fantasy XV crossover event. Along with exclusive quests and rewards, players could purchase a special mount- the Regalia flying car- for 200,000 MGP. The mount was the first four-seater mount introduced in the game, and is sure to make players stand out from their peers.

The Make it Rain quest, The Great Horn Heist, can only be undertaken after one of the Envoy main story quests are completed (around level 15). Being early in the story, players should be able to achieve it somewhat quickly, especially thanks to the free trial and surge of recent interest.

In recent news, Final Fantasy XIV broke its Steam concurrent players record with over 47,000; after World of Warcraft streamer Asmongold tried the game. His first two streams and subsequent VODs reached 2.7 million and 2.1 million views. The game briefly had to contend with the Western servers being full, and had to implement a waiting list for the Complete Edition.

Square Enix recently launched the benchmark for the Endwalker expansion. This allows players to not only test how well the game will run on their PC, but also use the game’s character creator. The latter will provide players with a small taste of the upcoming Male Viera race.

Final Fantasy XIV is available to Windows PC, (via the SE Store, and Steam), PlayStation 4, and coming soon to PlayStation 5, and Xbox One. A free trial is available, including the base game and the first expansion with some limitations. The next expansion; Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, launches November 23rd.
