PS5 Users Reportedly Getting Banned by Sony Due to PS Plus Collection Exploit

PlayStation Plus Collection

With a curated library of twenty of the best games from the PS4’s library – including the likes of God of War, Monster Hunter World, Persona 5, The Last of Us Remastered, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, and many, many more – the PlayStation Plus Collection is a solid deal that PS5 owners with PS Plus subscriptions have been able to avail.

PlayStation Plus Collection, however, is only meant for the PS5. There are many, however, who are exploiting a loophole in how it works to make a quick buck. Logging into a PS5 with your account unlocks the PS Plus Collection and adds it to your library, and many have been logging into their PS5s to unlock the collection on people’s PS4 consoles in exchange for money.

Sony, however, has been stamping down on those making use of this exploit. As per several posts on the Chinese forum A9VG (as discovered by VGC), Sony has banned thousands of PSN accounts in response to this exploit already. When (or if) Sony will come up with a more permanent solution to get rid of the loophole entirely remains to be seen.

Recently, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said that Sony are as of yet undecided on whether or not to expand PlayStation Plus Collection’s library as time goes on. A couple of games were added to the catalog shortly before the PS5’s launch, so perhaps it’s not outside the realm of possibility.
