Microsoft and Bethesda will be lending several characters to Fortnite in the future, including the Doom Slayer, according to reports.

One thing that is absolutely guaranteed to happen in 2022 is more guest characters for Fortnite. Chapter 3’s first season alone has already added Spider-Man, Marcus Fenix and Kait Diaz from Gears Of War, and most recently Boba Fett, as unlockable skins.

If the latest rumours are to be believed, then one of these future characters will be the protagonist of Bethesda’s Doom games, the Doom Slayer.

This rumour comes from the latest XboxEra podcast (around the 57:31 mark), where Nick ‘Shpeshal’ Baker claims to have heard that Microsoft and Bethesda will be lending several of their characters to the battle royale.

Baker chose not to share the full list of characters, only mentioning the Doom Slayer. He adds that he has no idea when he’ll be added to Fortnite, so there’s no guarantee he’ll appear in the next season.

As Baker points out, some rumoured characters didn’t arrive in Fortnite until months after they were first rumoured. For example, Naruto was speculated as early as May, but he wasn’t included until six months later in November.

More Microsoft characters in Fortnite wouldn’t be too surprising, as it has already lent the aforementioned Gears Of War characters and Halo’s Master Chief.

The fact that Baker specifically mentions Bethesda, however, could suggest characters specifically from its franchises, such as The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, and Fallout.

Insider Jeff Grubb also speculates that 2022 will see a lot more video game characters appear in Fortnite, as he believes that Epic Games is running out of famous movie characters it can put in the battle royale.

Fortnite is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
