Fortnite Fans Are Making Fun of Guile’s Skin | Game Rant

The recent Street Fighter 5summer update may have focused on the next two DLC characters for the game (as well as show a first glimpse at the final Street Fighter 5 DLC fighter, Luke), but it also took the time to share a Fortnite update of all things. That's because, after Ryu and Chun-Li were added to Epic Games' battle-royale as unlockable skins, two more Street Fighter regulars will be joining later this week: Cammy and Guile.

Both characters made their debut in Street Fighter 2 (although technically Cammy first appeared in a later iteration of the game) and will come with two variants, as well as the usual additional cosmetics like back bling and a pickaxe. They also sport slightly new character designs in order to match Fortnite's art style, just like Ryu and Chun-Li.

They're still pretty much identical to how they look in the Street Fighter games, although Cammy's legs are no longer bare and she now wears camouflage print leggings. However, it's Guile's appearance that's got fans talking and not for necessarily good reasons.

Mainly, it's Guile's hair that's become the butt of the joke. His flat top hairstyle is an iconic and defining aspect of the character, but not only does it seem larger than usual (either that or his head has been made smaller), making it look more comedic than anything, many have pointed out that the way the hair is textured makes it look more like string cheese. The whole thing feels rather reminiscent of when Ken's new design was revealed for Street Fighter 5, which was unfavorably compared to bananas.

It's not just the hair, though. Some people aren't impressed with the overall design, arguing that he looks more like someone dressed up as Guile. In fact, a common comparison is with how the character was depicted in the Street Fighter Red Tape videos on YouTube from 2014, where he was portrayed by Community actor Joel McHale.

Previous crossover characters have usually translated relatively well into Fortnite's art style. At the very least, none have been met with the amount of criticism and mockery that Guile has. With his skin arriving in only a few days, it's very unlikely that Epic will make some last minute changes to his design.

This isn't the only crossover Epic has planned for the near future. In a couple of days, a music concert featuring Ariana Grande will take place and players will have the opportunity to unlock two new skins based on the singer.

Fortnite is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
