Fortnite: How to Equip a Detector and Disable Alien Billboard in one Match

Fortnite's Week 9 quests have arrived, offering players large sums of XP in exchange for completing certain challenges throughout the island. The conflict between the IO and the alien invaders continues to rage on, with the extraterrestrials now placing billboard ads around the map, but not if players have anything to say about it.

Epic Games' popular free-to-play battle royale title is entering the last month of its Season 7. As the time remaining with the alien invasion-themed season winds down, content has seemingly ramped up. Fortnite has introduced several new high-tech weapons in the past few weeks, the most recent of which is the extremely powerful and versatile Grab-itron, which could have a large impact on the game's meta going forward.

Part of the Week 9 Legendary Quest, players are tasked with locating and picking up a Detector, and then using it to disable one of the newly erected alien billboards in a single match. While a majority of Fortnite's multi-stage quests often require plenty of traversal, this particular quest's components are in fairly close proximity of one another. There are eight locations in total, but players are finding the easiest to be Misty Meadows. A black suitcase can be found next to the water fountain on the eastern side of the POI. Interact with the case to pick up the Detector, then head directly southeast up a hill to where the billboard is at. Interact with it to complete the quest.

Given Misty Meadows' inherent popularity of a landing spot, reaching that particular suitcase may be difficult. Nearby Catty Corner offers a proximal alternative, with a lot fewer buildings. For this location, players can grab the Detector from a suitcase found right in front of the Reboot Van, and can then head west to reach the nearby billboard. In fact, the majority of Fortnite's POIs supposedly have a suitcase/billboard combo, including Retail Row, Dirty Docks, Craggy Cliffs, Pleasant Park, Boney Burbs, and Believer Beach. Southwestern POIs seem exempt, likely because of the strong alien presence with Holly Hedges turning into Holly Hatchery, and Slurpy Swamp getting abducted.

Despite the increasingly heated battle between the IO and aliens,Fortnite's Agent Jonesy hasn't been seen since the events of the Zero Point Crisis event of last season. However, its possible he may be recruiting some backup. During Season 5, Jonesy recruited Street Fighter characters Ryu and Chun-Li. While there wasn't a trailer showing him do it, Street Fighter's Cammy and Guile are coming to Fortnite. Fans are largely excited about Cammy's appearance, but have been quick to roast the rendition of Guile, with many fans likening it to a goofy caricature of his usual self. Its unclear what, if any, role the incoming crossover characters may play.

Players who complete this quest will be rewarded with 30,000 XP, and can move on to later stages of the Week 9 Legendary Quest, like eliminating more alien trespassers. Fortnite fans have a lot to look forward to, with both the Street Fighter Cammy Cup and Ariana Grande's Rift Tour concert happening this weekend.

Fortnite is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
