Fortnite Pro benjyfishy's mom has followed in her son's footsteps and is now a professional player herself, signing a deal with esports organization Galaxy Racer.
Odds are most parents of Fortnite-playing children around the world wish their kids would play the game a little less. That is most certainly not the case for Benjy “benjyfishy” Fish, one of the best Fortnite players in the world. The pro player's mom Anne has been his manager since 2018 and decided to give the game a whirl herself earlier this year to help her better understand Fortnite.
Anne set up her own Twitch and YouTube channels so she could amass her own following and allow people to follow her progress. She has now become so adept at Fortnite and recruited so many fans that esports organization Galaxy Racer has signed her to a deal. That's right, Anne's mom, who started her Fortnite career as her son's manager, is now a pro player herself.

“I never thought in a million years that I would ever be playing Fortnite or streaming online or ever be in a position to be able to be signed by an organization,” Anne told BBC. The gaming mom, who has 430,000 followers on Twitch and 165,000 subscribers on YouTube, hadn't played a single video game prior to Fortnite since gaming on an N64 around 15 years ago.
Anne admitted that she was pretty bad at first, camping out of sight of rivals and trying to pick them off from a distance. “My reflexes aren't as good as young players, so I have to be more strategic. I thought it'd be really cool to see if I could get to champions division as a solo, which I did.” Anne is yet to win any money from tournaments, unlike her son who qualified for the first-ever Fortnite World Cup in 2019.
Anne isn't the only gaming mom to have made headlines this week. Celio's Network's mom was sat alongside them for an online Pokemon TCG tournament, discussing what was happening on-screen after being eliminated from the same competition at an earlier stage. Celio's Network was subsequently disqualified from the tournament after other competitors complained they were getting help from their mom.
