Fortnite: What Time is the Season 7 Live Event? (What is the Countdown Clock)

Just today, Fortnite Battle Royale was updated to version 17.21, which added a brand-new weapon called the Plasma Cannon as well as some fixes. However, that's not the only thing that appeared on the Fortnite Season 7 map. In the middle of the island, where the purple-colored Aftermath location is, there is now a mysterious clock that's counting down to a specific date and time.

Epic Games has not clarified what this Fortnite countdown clock is ticking down to, but there are many rumors and speculations surrounding it. Coming out of the Apple vs. Epic Games legal battle, there were reports that an Ariana Grande concert was planned to happen, as well as a new skin featuring the celebrity pop singer. Some other Fortnite leakers, like HYPEX, believe that several points of interest, like Slurpy Swamps and Coral Castle, will start to get abducted by the Aliens in chunks.

These are all rumors right now, as there's no concrete proof as to what live event will occur once the timer ends, but either of these things seem likely.

The countdown clock can be found high in the sky in the middle of the map, right in the purple-colored landmark known as The Aftermath. The countdown clock is set to end on Friday, August 6th, at 3 PM PT, 4 PM MT, 5 PM CT, and 6 PM ET. As mentioned previously, there's no telling what will happen once the clock comes to an end, so it'll be exciting to see what exactly happens. Will there be a surprise Ariana Grande concert at that time? Or will the Alien Mothership begin to extract key locations of the Fortnite Season 7 map? Fans will just need to wait and see.

Considering that Season 7 of Fortnite won't be coming to an end until the middle of September, this "event" that the mysterious clock is counting down to is definitely not the end of the season, so it might not be as monumental as other season-ending events. Still, it's sure to be something big. If Epic Games has put a clock like this in the game, it has to be something that fans will be excited about, or else this could just end with a fizzle instead of a bang.

Once more information concerning the countdown timer is revealed, Fortnite fans should make sure to check back with Game Rant for the latest updates.

Fortnite is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
