MMORPG Streamer Asmongold has issued a message to Twitch saying that the new gambling streams meta is "killing our website".

As reported by Dexerto, Asmongold participated in a stream with H3H3 host Ethan Klein, where the two discussed the current state of Twitch, which led to discussions on the new gambling streams meta.

For those unaware, gambling streams are currently taking off on Twitch, with streamers like Adin Ross, xQc, and Trainwrecks all setting up streams where they play gambling games live on camera, all whilst earning money from Twitch sponsors. Adin Ross revealed that he and his housemates were earning up to $2 million a month for the sponsored gambling streams, with views of the streams rapidly rising and getting more popular.

Asmongold is the latest Twitch streamer to call the gambling streams out. His appearance on Ethan Klein's stream had him saying, "What I do know is, as a Twitch streamer, if Twitch lets this continue, it will hurt our website. Every single person on here will be negatively affected by that, through a loss of revenue, which will turn into loss of support, funding, which will then affect you as a viewer."

After lamenting some of the streamers who are participating in the gambling streams, Asmongold said, "The real disease here is Twitch still allowing this to happen. I personally hate gambling and, if it were up to me, all forms of casino gambling would be illegal. I don’t hold doing gambling streams against any streamer. If it’s not against terms of service though, people will do it, that’s it. It’s entirely Twitch’s responsibility to uphold integrity on their site, not the streamers.”

One of the main streamers behind the gambling meta, Trainwrecks, responded to the controversy by saying, "Everything I touch, people are pissed", seemingly blaming the controversy surrounding the subject on how people perceive him. Trainwrecks did admit that gambling isn't a healthy habit and loses people money, but still looks to continue doing the sponsored gambling streams.
