Game Boy Advance E-Reader Card Is Fetchung Big Money On eBay

0

An incredibly rare E3 exclusive e-reader card designed for the Game Boy Advance is for sale on eBay, and people are willing to pay very big money for it.

As more and more video games and items related to them are selling for thousands, sometimes even millions of dollars, it seems more people are stumbling upon pretty incredible finds. The latest of those finds takes the form of a Game Boy Advance e-reader card. An item to be used with an accessory that will have been forgotten by many, and not even known about in the first place by even more.

The card in question is a Kirby card that can be swiped using the GBA's short-lived e-reader. The card is currently for sale on eBay and is sitting at a bid of $6500 with three days to go. It was handed out at E3 in 2002 after which it was believed all of the cards had been destroyed. When you swipe the card while the e-reader is connected to a GBA, and the correct game is inserted, it unlocks some exclusive in-game items.

While the item is yet to be verified, the seller has included photos of the card and even a video of it being used, which you can check out below. It's assumed the card can be used more than once, otherwise it has been turned into nothing more than an ornament by swiping it before it has been sold.

As touched upon above, the rare video game market has blown up somewhat as of late. Shortly after a copy of the original Legend of Zelda sold for $870,000 at auction, a sealed copy of Super Mario 64 fetched $1.56 million. A copy of Skyrim on Xbox 360 also went for $600 at the same auction. Someone should have probably let them know it's on Game Pass, but too late now.

As for the Kirby e-reader card, if it is indeed the real deal, it could well be one of a kind. After almost 20 years since they were handed out and seemingly thrown away immediately afterward, it seems unlikely that many of them, if any other than the one on eBay still exists. Just like the Among Us chicken nugget earlier this year, its exposure via articles like this one could really jack up the price between now and the end of the auction.
