Warhammer Age of Sigmar 3rd Edition Starter Set

Games Workshop have announced the starter sets for the 3rd Edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.

These new starter sets follow the same general trend started in Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition, releasing some of the contents of the edition’s big launch box into smaller chunks. Like with 40k, the Age of Sigmar boxes will come in three progressively larger and more expensive tier levels.

The Warrior Starter Set contains the same push-fit models that were part of the recently released Dominion boxed set that kicked off the new edition. The smallest of the boxes, the Warrior set, contains 5 Vindicators and a Knight-Arcanum of the Stormcast Eternals, facing off against 10 Gutrippaz and a Killaboss with his Stab-grot henchman from the Kruleboyz. The set also comes with a core rules booklet, a rules reference cheat sheet, warscroll cards for all the included miniatures, a double-sided board, dice, and rulers.

The next step up is the Harbinger Starter Set. It contains all the same rules booklets and accessories as the Warrior set, but the selection of miniatures is a bit larger. In this one you’ll get 5 Vindicators, 3 Praetors, and a Lord-Imperatant with his loyal Gryph-hound companion for the Stormcast Eternals. Meanwhile, the Kruleboyz half contains 10 Gutrippaz, 10 Hobgrot Slittaz, and a Swampcalla Shaman with his Pot-grot assistant.

The Extremis Starter Set is the largest of the bunch. It contains everything in the Harbinger set, but also throws in some brand new plastic terrain pieces to decorate your battlefield.

You can find the Starter Sets unboxing below, along with packshots.

Games Workshop will also be releasing some hobby sets for the new edition. The Paint + Tools set contains a pair of clippers, a mouldline remover, a paintbrush, and thirteen 12ml pots of paint covering the standard colors for the default Stormcast Eternals and Kruleboyz schemes.

Both factions also have their own individual sets. There is a Stormcast Eternals set that includes 6 pots of paint, a brush, and two Vindicators to test out color schemes with. The Kruleboyz version contains 6 paints, a brush, and 3 Gutrippaz.

If you’d rather skip the smaller starter sets and just dive headfirst into Age of Sigmar 3rd Edition, then Games Workshop still has some copies of the big Dominion boxed set. Much like 40k‘s Indomitus box from last year, Dominion is a limited set that won’t be sold again.
