Genshin Impact: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Sayu

Healers has a special role in Genshin Impact. No team composition can be complete without a good healer. However, before Inazuma's release, the game had gone a long while without a new healer; a new healer hadn't been added since late in update 1.1. That is until Sayu was released in update 2.0.

The little ninja from the Shuumatsuban, Sayu is a four-star character released during Yoimiya's banner in update 2.0. The first healer from Inazuma, the pint-size character became a fan-favorite very quickly. Nonetheless, there's a lot about the Anemo claymore-user that Genshin Impact fans may be unaware of.

Sayu According To The Website

"Sayu, Shuumatsuban's resident ninja, is obsessed with sleeping and growing taller. She has mastered all kinds of ninjutsu to run away and hide in pursuit of opportunities to laze around and sleep. Such an extraordinary skillset may have very unexpected uses."

Sayu makes for a master of the ninja arts. Using her skills, she can go unseen by many in Inazuma. In fact, people looking to find Sayu often have to go to the Kamisato siblings to find her, as they have their own method of doing so.

Nonetheless, as a member of the Shuumatsuban (a hidden organization under the Yashiro Commission), Sayu works closely with the powerful Kamisato Ayaka and other members of the commission. However, while Sayu's skills are indeed masterful, the motive for such progress may be unexpected.

Sayu According To The Game

"A pint-sized ninja attached to the Shuumatsuban, who always seems sleep-deprived."

Of the Genshin Impact cast, Sayu is among the shortest. Ultimately, this makes up her reason for learning ninjutsu in the first place. She uses her skills to skip out on work so that she can sleep, all in an effort to grow taller.

Given the among of sleep she gets, she always seems to have a tired look. Oversleeping can have the same fatigue effect as getting too little sleep, and Sayu is guilty to this end.

Sayu Has Versatile Talents

Healers have a special place in the Genshin Impact cast. For one, Sayu is an incredible healer with the potential to compete with others like Barbara and Diona. However, Sayu makes to be so much more than a healer.

Her talents are incredibly versatile, with her elemental skill being a good way to access swirl reactions. Naturally, with a good enough build, Sayu can be made into a good Anemo DPS. In addition, her elemental skill moves faster than a normal sprint, making her a good choice among exploration characters as well.

Sayu Uses Crystal Marrow And Maguu Kishin

When players want their characters to be at the top of their game, ascensions become vital. However, with characters released with the release of a new region, collecting materials can be difficult; this is what happened with Sayu and Inazuma's rare local specialties. To ascend, Sayu is going to want Crystal Marrow and Maguu Kishin. Luckily for Genshin Impact players, these items can be obtained more easily than other rare local specialties.

For one, Crystal Marrow can be found with the bones of Serpent's Head, located on the western side of Yashiori Island. However, on the other hand, Maguu Kishin can only be obtained by beating Maguu Kenki; players should beware of the boss' fast movements and heavy Cryo attacks.

Sayu Uses Nyctereutes Minor

Constellations define gameplay in Genshin Impact to a very large extent, and Sayu's constellation is Nyctereutes Minor. When players pull a second Sayu, they will find that her elemental burst in particular will be improved.

At the first constellation, Sayu's burst will simultaneously heal and attack. This will boost Sayu's already apparent versatility, making an attack that will also heavily heal teammates. In addition, Sayu's sixth constellation will add the additional elemental mastery boost, as well as increased healing and damage scaled to Sayu's elemental mastery stat.

Sayu Likes Onigiri

Unlike other characters, Sayu doesn't have any intense dislikes as far as food is concerned. In her view, people looking to grow cannot be picky so she eats almost anything available to boost her growth. That said, she does prefer more filling foods, preferring not to eat salads because it isn't "filling enough."

On the other hand, Sayu prefers high-carb foods. In her words, high-carb foods are perfect because they're full of energy. Specifically, Sayu seems to have a talent for making onigiri (or rice balls), which is the source of her special dish: Dizziness-Be-Gone no Jutsu Version 2.0.

Sayu Likes To Laze Around

A masterful ninja from the Yashiro Commission's Shuumatsuban, there's no doubt that Sayu is skillful. However, Genshin Impact fans may have missed the reason that Sayu became a master of ninjutsu in the first place.

Ultimately, Sayu learned her skills for one reason: so that she could skip her tasks and sleep. Of course, don't look at this as her just wanting to laze around all day. Sayu has a very important reason for sleeping as much as she does; she rests so that she can grow taller. At least, that's what she believes.

Sayu Has An Interesting Relationship With Ayaka

In general, the Kamisato clan has a very strong reputation in Inazuma for being influential and perfect. However, Sayu seems to think differently of the two siblings in the Yashiro Commission. For one, she believes that Ayato is unusual due to how much work he does, wondering why he doesn't "just not do it."

While Sayu definitely has an impression of Kamisato Ayato, it does seem like their interactions are sparse. On the other hand, her relationship with Ayaka is a little more strained. Ayaka has taken to asking the shrine maidens to watch Sayu and ensure she isn't slacking off, a fact that Sayu resents.

Sayu Is Voiced By Lilypichu

From Genshin Impact's long cast of voice actors, Sayu is voiced by LilyPichu aka Lily Ki. Starting on Youtube back in 2011, LilyPichu is an internet personality and excellent musician. She has released at least 14 singles in 2020 and 2021 alone, making her an incredibly experienced performer and artist.

While she has not been a voice actor for as long as her music career, LilyPichu has acted in a few works in the past. Among her portfolio, she voice acted in Cardfight! Vanguard overDress!, Phantom Breaker: Omnia, and TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You.

Sayu's Birthday Is October 19th

On October 19th, Sayu was born. Therefore, this makes Sayu a Libra. The Libra zodiac sign represents the element air. Tending to be rational and detached, these signs seem to have a fairly cold and isolated lifestyle focusing on themselves.

Of course, this represents Sayu well as a ninja that isolates herself to sleep. Famous people born on October 19th include Gabby Murray, Katie Douglas, and the rapper Lil Durk.
