Sucker Punch Productions have announced the release date for the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends 1.1 update, along with New Game+.

The single-player game of Ghost of Tsushima is available on PlayStation 4 (In case you missed it, you can find our review here)- but PlayStation announced the co-op multiplayer mode for the game in August.

Back then it was stated Legends is entirely separate from the main story- focusing on four warriors who have become legends on Tsushima. Two players can take on escalating co-op story missions, while four players can fight against wave-based survival missions and raids.

Now, more information has been revealed by Darren Bridges, Senior Game Designer at Sucker Punch Productions via the PlayStation Blog. Launching on October 16th, version 1.1 will allow players to download Ghost of Tsushima: Legends as a separate game from the PlayStation Store, for free.

You can find the new trailer for version 1.1 and Legends below.

Within Ghost of Tsushima, the NPC Gyozen the Storyteller. This character will tell his own perspective on the events happening in Tsusima (the events shown in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends). Players can access the multiplayer lobby through Gyozen, or through the title menu, pause menu, or an invite from friends on PSN.

Players can choose which of the four classes to unlock first, unlocking the rest as they rank up. Players van also earn alternate abilities for classes, charms, and ranged weapons.

Each class possess their own advantages and weaknesses, and parties are free to use even four of the same class or any combination. You can find the rundown on each class below.

Samurai

Samurai players can run straight toward combat and stay there, sustaining their health while chopping enemies down left and right. When you’re overwhelmed, use the Hachiman’s Fury ultimate attack to slash through enemies in a flurry of strikes.

Hunter

As a Hunter, you can stand on the edge of combat and snipe enemies before they even see you. You can also use explosive arrows to slow down groups, and when the combat gets really fierce, the Eye of Uchitsune ultimate attack will unleash multiple arrows straight at your enemies’ heads.

Ronin

Ronin players can revive their entire team with the Breath of Izanami ultimate ability. You might play Ronin because you want to help your human friends… or you might do it because the Ronin class is also able to summon a Spirit Dog. (And yes, you can ABSOLUTELY pet your Spirit Dog!)

Assassin

If you prefer doing massive damage with a single attack, you’ll love the Assassin. The Shadow Strike ultimate attack will allow you to teleport across the battlefield and directly strike your enemies. If that’s not intimidating enough, wait until you see the terrifying masks the Assassin gets to wear!”

Story Missions (for two players) are Gyozen’s stories, where players can unlock higher difficulties. These promise “new encounters, tougher enemies, bonus objectives, and greater rewards.”

Survival Missions (for four players) evolve fighting off waves of foes, and defending different locales across Tsushima. Players can also activate blessings for useful effects, such as setting foes alight or summoning a Spirit Bear. The longer you survive, and the more bonus objectives completed, the more rewards that are earned.

Raids are touted as the greatest challenge for four players. Details are scant, other than it being a three-part adventure in Iyo’s realm that “will require excellent teamwork and communication to overcome.” It will be available in the weeks after Legends launch.

The Legends mode will also include the Photo Mode from the main game “as long as your teammates opt in,” cosmetics unlocked with no microtransactions, and new trophies. These trophies do not count toward Ghost of Tsushima‘s Platinum Trophy count, and are in a separate category.

As for Ghost of Tsushima, the game is receiving an update based on player feedback. This includes New Game+; where players can restart their adventure with an increased difficulty, and all the Techniques, Gear, and Vanity items they have unlocked. Players can still turn the difficulty down if they desire.

In addition, there will be a brand new horse with a red mane and unique saddle, powerful new charms that can unleash powerful attacks, and a new final upgrade for the sword, bow, and armor. This also includes new Trophies, that are in their own category and do not affect the game’s Platinum Trophy.

Players will also be able to earn Ghost Flowers. These can be accepted by a new merchant in Ariake. Completing Tales or actives you have already beaten will earn you Ghost Flowers as its reward, which can be exchanged for new armor dyes and vanity gear. The merchant will also sell the new powerful charms.

Other new features include Armor Layouts to assign sets of charms and vanity items quickly and swap between armor loadouts with ease, play time displayed on save files, and new options on the photo mode.
