Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is finally out, and has been receiving rave reviews across the board. Of course, alongside new content – native PS5 support has also been added to the mix which allows the game to perform much better on the newer hardware. Check out our video below which compares the PS5 version against the PS4 Pro build.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut on the PS5 has two modes – Resolution and Performance. The Resolution mode runs at a checkerboarded 4K resolution with a framerate target of 60fps, while Performance mode runs at checkerboarded 1800p with an inarguably much tighter frame rate. This is a big improvement from the PS4 Pro, which runs at an 1800p checkerboarded rendering in resolution mode at 30 fps and the graphics mode which keeps the framerate locked to 30fps at a native 1080p image.

Ghost of Tsushima‘s load times are drastically improved on the PS5, which isn’t surprising considering the game loaded incredibly quickly even on a last-gen machine. All in all, despite some obvious disparities between both versions of the game, Ghost of Tsushima remains an enjoyable experience on both tested platforms with solid performance all around.
