PlayStation’s own database may have given away God Of War Ragnarök’s release date, although some suspect it could be a placeholder.

The long awaited sequel to 2018’s God Of War, titled God Of War Ragnarök, is easily one of the most anticipated games of 2022, especially after the September trailer properly showed the game off for the first time.

No official release date has been announced yet, but it’s believed that the PlayStation database’s listing for the game may have given it away. Twitter account PlayStation Game Size, which regularly monitors the database, says that God Of War Ragnarök is scheduled for September 30, 2022.

PlayStation Game Size does note that this could just be a placeholder, but it’s certainly believable and could potentially give fans a rough idea of when the game will come out.

Aside from God Of War Ragnarök, Sony’s other major first party releases for next year are Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7. The former is scheduled for February 18, with the latter to follow on March 4.

Sony obviously wouldn’t want any of its games to release too close together and risk one overshadowing the other. A January release date can also be ruled out since that’s only next month and when the 2018 God Of War game will launch for PC.

Given the lack of information on God Of War Ragnarök so far, an autumn release window does seem likely, but fans will ultimately need to wait until there is an official announcement from Sony.

This isn’t the only game to have its release date potentially leaked via the database. PlayStation Game Size also mentions Sonic Frontiers and Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals being listed for November 15, 2022 and February 8, 2022 respectively.

Sonic Frontiers is Sega’s next mainline entry in the Sonic The Hedgehog series. Its most recent trailer confirmed that it will be an open world game, a first for the series, but the only in-engine footage shown was of the environments with no gameplay to speak of.

Oxenfree 2 is an indie adventure game from Night School Studio and a sequel to the 2016 original. Not much is known beyond the initial trailer, although it looks to be another supernatural thriller.

God Of War Ragnarök will release for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 2022.
