There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding Gotham Knights, the upcoming co-op action-adventure game set in the world of Batman. The game is separate from the universe of the Batman Arkham games, but it carries a lot of the same elements both visually and mechanically. And while there have been gameplay demos, there’s still a lot that fans don’t know about Gotham Knights. Luckily, that may change soon.
In October, DC will run its DC Fandome event, the second of its kind. If it’s anything like last year, the event will be full of news regarding DC’s biggest franchises, including some updates on games that the company has in the works. A recent update on the Gotham Knights Twitter page has confirmed that the game will be there, so it stands to reason that players will be getting a good look at the Bat Family during the show.

The teaser shows a member of the Court of Owls along with the text “no one talks about them, not a whispered word is said,” which fans may recognize as a slight modification of the Court of Owls nursery rhyme found in the comic book series. It’s a cool tease for what’s to come, one that seems perfect for a faction as menacing as the Court of Owls. However, it doesn’t offer much in the way of new information.
Originally, Gotham Knights was supposed to launch this year, being one WB Montreal's biggest releases in quite some time. However, Gotham Knights was delayed to 2022 back in March, giving the developers more time to polish the game, but also being one of the first of many titles to receive such a delay throughout 2021. The pandemic has made development difficult, and thus thrown a wrench into release pipelines, so the landslide of delayed games had been more or less expected.
It’s possible, however, that Gotham Knights receives a new release date, or at least a more specific release window, during the DC Fandome event. There are likely going to be some gameplay overhauls for fans to see during DC Fandome, too – assuming the delay has been put to good use – so WB Montreal shouldn’t be lacking things to show off.
DC Fandome will kick off on October 16, 2021, so Batman fans won’t have long to wait until they can see some more of the game. With any luck, the delay won’t push Gotham Knights all the way back to fall 2022, and will instead put the game somewhere early in the year. With how packed January and February 2022 are with games right now, though, it may be best for Gotham Knights to land a little bit later than that.
Gotham Knights releases in 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
