We now know who that rumored Guilty Gear crossover character will be in Samurai Shodown. SNK just announced that Baiken will take the leap from Guilty Gear Xrd to their sword-focused fighting game as the fourth DLC character in the current season pass.
Baiken is the perfect fit for Samurai Shodown. As a wandering samurai herself, Baiken is armed with a traditional katana and a claw grappling hook replacing her right arm, although she rarely uses it. With just one arm and one eye, Baiken is the quintessential badass samurai seeking revenge on those who murdered her family.
Unfortunately, she won't find those responsible in Samurai Shodown, but she will find plenty of colorful characters to cut down as she wanders back to Guilty Gear.
However, it seems like she'll be unlikely to make it into Guilty Gear Strive anytime soon. Jack-O was just announced as the second DLC fighter, and the datamine from last June predicts Happy Chaos, Asuka, and Jam as the next three fighters in Strive's first season pass. That means Baiken fans will have to wait until a second season gets announced for a chance at her arrival as a playable character.
On the plus side, Baiken will retain the same voice actress from Guilty Gear Xrd when she makes her Samurai Shodown debut on Thursday, August 19. Check out the trailer above to see how having one arm doesn’t seem to slow Baiken down at all.
