Halo Infinite’s Campaign Won’t Ship With Co-Op At Launch

Halo Infinite isn't launching with a co-op campaign or Forge, but it'll still make its holiday release. 343 Industries' latest development update video revealed that both modes had to be pushed to ship on time.

Halo Infinite's head of creative Joseph Staten shared the news in 343's latest update, noting that they made the "really tough decision to delay" Forge and co-op campaigns so the team could focus on bringing the rest of Infinite up to quality standards. There's no word on when Halo Infinite itself is launching outside of the vague holiday 2021 window, so it's unclear on when we can expect Forge or co-op to follow.

As for the rest of the video, all of the news out of 343's update isn't a bummer. The team did note that Infinite's tech preview was successful, and they've got issues and feedback from the test on their radar. The studio is also working on mapping out updates for Halo Infinite's first year in the wild, so we'll have plenty to keep us busy as those delayed modes come rolling out. The video itself is pushing an hour, packing mostly developer insights and a few news beats, but there was no new footage revealed from Master Chief's next adventure.

Halo's co-op campaign is a pretty iconic experience and has remained a pillar of the series since Combat Evolved, but it's not the only multiplayer mode. For those of you eager to rush into the PVP experience, 343 just wrapped up testing the mode. It's not indicative of the final experience, as Infinite had us facing off against a bunch of bots, but there was still teabagging. It's really everything you're used to.

The tech preview may have also given us an accidental peek at other goodies ahead, too. Players did their usual datamining of the test, and uncovered things like a battle royale voice clip and photo mode. 343 Industries hasn't confirmed either of these features in any official capacity, but neither seem out of place in modern standards.
