Halo: The Master Chief Collection – “No Plans” to Add Mod Support to Xbox Versions

Halo: The Master Chief Collection spent several years turning things around on Xbox from its disastrous launch, and then went on to have a successful fragmented launch on PC as well. On PC, it’s roped in large quantities of players, and excellent support from 343 Industries has ensured that that player base continues to grow at a steady rate. One of the ways they have done that is, of course, through mod support in the game. But if you were hoping that the feature would also be added to the collection on consoles- well, prepare for disappointment.

In a recent update on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries community support and engagement coordinator Tyler Davis (a.k.a. Postums) said that currently, there are no plans to add mod support to The Master Chief Collection on consoles, and that for now, 343 is focused on improving the modding experience on PC.

“As of right now, there are no plans to bring mods down to console from PC,” Davis wrote. “Our goal for this year is to roll out and improve the modding experience on PC before we begin evaluating how we would, should we choose to, bring that to consoles. We have seen quite a bit of chatter around it and want to set expectations accordingly that as of right now, there is no official plan of record to make it so. This could possibly change in the future, but it is not in the current roadmap.”

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. Meanwhile, Halo Infinite is launching for the same platforms later this year, though a specific launch date hasn’t yet been announced.
