Microsoft Flight Simulator is heading to Xbox this month, but that's not the only big news for the high-flying game. Asobo Studio is also planning to add helicopters in 2022 – one of the most-requested features since launch.

The news dropped somewhat unceremoniously. There was no big announcement, no reveal trailer, and certainly no tweets. Instead, the info was buried deep in the latest development update, which indicates a project called "Helicopters are a Must" is "Planned" for a 2022 release. It's not much, but its more than enough for fans of the sim to get excited.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is heading to Xbox Game Pass this month, but that's not the only big title coming to the service. Subscribers can also check out Battlefield 5, The Ascent, and the long-forgotten Blinx: The Time Sweeper. Once set to be the mascot of Xbox, Blinkx has since faded into obscurity. Here's hoping Game Pass gives the little dude a second chance.

If you find yourself enjoying Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox, you can rest easy knowing more Flight Sim content is on the way. Not only will we see helicopters at some point next year, but November will also see the arrival of a Top Gun expansion. Little is known about the collaboration, but it's set to tie in with the upcoming Top Gun movie. Expect to learn more in the coming weeks.

Microsoft Flight Simulator will be available on Xbox Game Pass later this month, with helicopters planned to arrive next year.
