Blizzard Entertainment has reworked Heroes of the Storm‘s Gazlowe in an update that intends to turn the diminutive Warcraft goblin into a “formidable Bruiser” that could change how players view the Melee Assassin and what he could provide to a team.

According to the Heroes of the Storm development team, the plan was to deliver a significant revamp for the character — one that would see him become a “front-line member of his team” with specialization in disruption and zone control, allowing Gazlowe the opportunity to live up to the idea that what he lacks in size he more than makes up for with his expansive, technical know-how.

It was revealed how Gazlowe will now have a new resource system with Scrap alongside some design changes to both Deth Lazor and Xplodium Charge. Blizzard Entertainment has promised that these changes will make them “consistently useful” throughout the course of the game as Heroes of the Storm continues to grow and expand. The team’s statement added how they had a blast adjusting and tinkering with Gazlowe’s character and hoped that fans would enjoy what they’ve done to adapt and evolve him and the subsequent impact his character may have within Heroes of the Storm skirmishes.

Heroes of the Storm is a 5-versus-5 crossover Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game featuring various characters from across Blizzard Entertainment’s numerous franchises. The game also boasts battlegrounds based on locations within the Warcraft, Diablo, StarCraft, and Overwatch universes.

Although free-to-play, the game does lean on a freemium business approach, offering players plenty of microtransactions to purchase additional heroes, skins, and a plethora of cosmetic items that aren’t afraid to acknowledge its fanbase and their fan theories — such as giving Overwatch’s Mei a Death Knight skin.

Heroes of the Storm is available now on Mac and PC.
