Accessory manufacturer Hori has announced that it will be releasing a new accessibility-focused controller for Nintendo Switch. The pad is called HORI Flex and it is available in Japan… with sadly no word yet for a release outside of that region. However, that shouldn’t stop anyone from importing the device considering Switch is thankfully not a region-locked console, which extends to accessories.
So, what makes HORI Flex special? Like Microsoft’s Adaptive Controller, HORI Flex is made with players who have various physical impairments and challenges in mind. HORI Flex boasts an enormous array of inputs allowing designers to craft different ways of doing everything from taking a screenshot to moving inside of a game.
This is an incredibly wonderful development for the design community to find new ways of playing games on Switch. Frankly, ever since the launch of Microsoft’s Adaptive Controller, this writer has been hoping something similar would come to Switch. Again, no word on a launch outside of Japan, but we will definitely update if and when we hear anything.
