Horizon Zero Dawn Receives 4K 60FPS Enhanced Performance Patch On PS5

Sony and developer Guerilla Games have surprise dropped a new patch for Horizon Zero Dawn which will allow the game to run in 4K at 60fps on PS5. This news comes from Guerrilla Games' official Twitter account which tweeted the news shortly after Horizon Forbidden West's release date reveal during this year's Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase.

Detailed in Guerilla Games' tweet, Horizon Zero Dawn and the Complete Edition will now run in 4K at 60fps for all PS5 owners thanks to this new patch. Those who already own the game will simply have to download the patch for free and the improvements should be ready and waiting. Those who have yet to play the game can purchase it on either PS4 or PS5, although you'll need to play it on the latter to see any improvements.

For those who haven't played the game yet, Horizon Zero Dawn is an open-world action-adventure game which sees players take on the role of Aloy, a young woman who sets out on a journey from her cozy village to discover the sercets of her past and figure out how to stop the rise in rampaging robot dinosaurs currently endangering the world.

As previously mentioned, this news comes shortly after Horizon Forbidden West's release date was announced during Gamescom. The game was rumored to be getting delayed into 2022, and this new release date confirms that rumor. Instead of launching in 2021, Horizon Forbidden West will now launch on February 18, 2022 for PS4 and PS5.

If you've been keeping up to date on Forbidden West's development and are worrying about how such a technically impressive game could run on old hardware, Guerrilla Games has reassured fans that there won't be any issues. Horizon Forbidden West game director Mathijs de Jonge has explained that the game has been developed with PS4 in mind and that "the game will look fantastic on that console."

For now, Horizon fans can look forward to the arrival of Aloy in Genshin Impact, although some of us here think Aloy's addition to the game is a terrible idea.
