Nier: Automata is an action-adventure game with unique storytelling, multiple endings, and a wealth of content to experience. This Yoko Taro masterpiece has fans discussing the game's characters and story even years after the game's original launch in 2017.
There are tons of things to do in Nier: Automata, from collecting weapons and trophies/achievements to reeling in robot fish. With just how deep this game is, you may be wondering how long it will take to complete all of it. This guide will break down how long it will take to beat the main story, all endings, and 100 percent completion.
How Long Does It Take To Complete The Main Storyline?
Nier: Automata is different than most games in that getting to the credits is really only the first part of the game's story. If you play through the game at a casual pace, doing some side quests and upgrading a few weapons, it should take you roughly 21 hours to complete the first ending.
However, Nier: Automata's story doesn't end the first time you see the credits roll. Completing the story for the first time as 2B will grant you ending A, but the game still has 25 other unique endings. Endings A through E are considered part of the game's main story, while endings F through Z are side endings that aren't necessarily plot-relevant.
If you want to experience the main storyline of Nier: Automata, you are looking at roughly 37 hours to get endings A, B, C, D, and E.
How Long Does It Take To Get All Endings?
As mentioned above, there are a total of 26 different endings, one for each letter of the alphabet. The first five, endings A through E, are the main story of Nier: Automata. You will want to achieve at least these five endings to experience the entire story the game has to offer.
While playing through the game, you will probably stumble upon a side-ending, maybe even before you get the first ending. For example, if you die during the first mission, you will get ending W. Most of these endings are fairly quick to get using chapter select. It will take roughly 45 hours to get all endings; A through Z.
How Long Does It Take To Complete The Entire Game/Platinum?
To completely 100 percent Nier: Automata, you will need to achieve all endings, A-Z, receive all trophies/achievements, complete all the side-quests, obtain all the Pod programs, obtain and fully upgrade every single weapon, and reel in every fish. Doing all of this will take roughly 62 hours. If you are playing casually and taking your time, it could take you upward of 70+ hours to do all of this. However, if you use a guide during your playthrough, you can 100 percent Nier: Automata in as little as 45 hours.
What about the DLC?
Nier: Automata's DLC adds about 3 additional hours of content to play through, and about 4 hours in total for 100 percent completion. This will increase the total time to 100 percent the game to roughly 66 hours.
